Balram is a elder brother of Krishna.
Balarama is in charge of eternity and knowledge. Hence he worshiped as the supreme teacher or Adiguru.
The Mahabharata relates that Vishnu pulled a white hair and a black hair from his head and these became Balarama and Krishna respectively. Balarama was white-skinned while Krishna was dark-skinned (represented iconographically by the color blue).
His consort is Revati and his sons are Nisatha and Ulmuka. His symbols are the plow and the mace.
